联合国世界妇女地位委员会(UN Commission on the Status of Women,简称CSW),成立于1946年,隶属于联合国经济及社会理事会,的成员国代表以及来自国际非政府组织(NGO)和其他利益相关方的代表。每年联合国妇女地位委员会(CSW)都会在联合国总部举行会议,共同讨论并制定推动性别平等和妇女权益的政策和行动方案。

Established in 1946 and affiliated with the United Nations Economic and Social Council, the UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) convenes representatives from member states, international non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and stakeholders annually at the United Nations Headquarters. The primary objective is to collectively deliberate and devise policies and action plans to advance gender equality and women's rights.

Commencing on March 11, 2024, the 68th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women commenced at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. The thematic focus of this session centered on "Accelerating the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls through poverty eradication, institutional strengthening, and financing." Delegates from across the globe congregated to exchange insights and foster collaboration on matters of mutual concern.

The present global juncture underscores a critical imperative for realizing gender parity. Data from 48 developing nations reveal a pressing need for an additional annual investment of $360 billion to attain gender equality and women's empowerment, inclusive of poverty and hunger alleviation. Expedited investment is essential to expedite progress towards gender equality. At the 68th CSW session, representatives from governments, civil society organizations, experts, and activists convened to deliberate on strategies and investment initiatives to alleviate poverty among women and advance gender equality.

The Pacific Rim Institute for Development and Education, vested with special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council, has steadfastly championed the cause of gender equality and women's rights. In attendance at this year's session was a distinguished delegation, led by Zhao Yuanhong, Director-General, Ou Jing, Secretary-General, Xing Haiyan, Deputy Director-General, and Zhang Xiangguo, Chairman of the Far East YDC. They actively engaged in substantive discussions with representatives from diverse backgrounds on themes encompassing the enhancement of women's status, augmenting educational opportunities, and fostering gender parity.

Throughout the session, representatives from the Pacific Rim Institute for Development and Education proactively contributed to dialogues, sharing the organization's successful endeavors and confronting challenges in advancing women's development and education within the region. Emphasis was placed on the pivotal role of education in empowering women and propelling societal advancement, while a resounding call was made upon the international community to bolster investment in educational resources, particularly targeting women and girls.

Furthermore, the Pacific Rim Institute for Development and Education will host a sub-forum titled "Empowering Women and Reducing Poverty through Digital Technologies" on March 15, extending invitations to youth worldwide. The objective is to harness digital technologies in advancing women's development, thereby catalyzing progress towards gender equality goals enshrined within the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. This initiative underscores the organization's commitment to fostering a more equitable and inclusive global landscape. Participation in this session epitomizes a pivotal stride undertaken by the Pacific Rim Institute for Development and Education in advancing women's development and education, emblematic of its influence and stature on the international stage.
