Act now: End child labour!
This year's World Day Against Child Labour focuses on the action taken for the 2021 International Year for the Elimination of Child Labour. This is the first International Day since the International Labour Organization's Worst Forms of Child Labour Convention (No. 182) was ratified by all member states, and it comes at a time when the COVID-19 crisis threatens to reverse years of progress made in addressing child labour.
For this June's World Day Against Child Labour, the International Labour Organization and UNICEF, with the support of "Alliance 8.7," will release the new Global Estimates and Trends of Child Labour (2016-2020). This report will include an assessment of how progress made in eliminating child labour may be affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and the unprecedented economic crisis that accompanies it.
To mark this year's World Day Against Child Labour, a Week of Action will be launched around June 12, beginning with the release of the new global child labour estimates. The activities carried out during this week will be an opportunity for partners to showcase the progress of their "2021 Action Pledges." All pledges made by regional, national, and organizational stakeholders, as well as individuals, will be showcased on the 2021 International Year website in April.
